In the first week of December 2020, my flatmates and every other student in the student halls went back home to celebrate Christmas with their families. At the time I was assuming everyone will come back but, on the 4th of January 2021, PM Boris Johnson declared the third national lockdown in the United Kingdom. Universities were forced to start remote learning and the government asked students to stay at home. After the announcement, I immediately realized that my flatmates are not coming back. I am the only person living in the building and I will be, for weeks.
